Abstract , Paper , Poster , Conference

Im grouping with grace , yim quan , pei chean and zhi chin and our major is QS. Hence the subtopic for us is spread factual info to the world.

What is factual info??
Factual info means the real information or the fact , the truth for the reality.
Everyone of us was given some point to grace to form the 300 words abstract. And my point is about QS responsibilities. For example preparing tender document or construction contract.

For the 1500 words paper , each of my group member where given one part to elaborate into around 300 words. And my part is about the responsibilities too. Here is it:

The thought of quantity surveyor’s ( QS) job is all about calculation is wrong. Instead , QS have to advise client or architect on procurement strategy and prepare tender document and contract document for the construction project . In the process of preparing tender or contract , few criteria have to be taken concern by the QS , for example undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance the building. Better qualities material use for construction project will actually lower down the maintenance fees in the future .Furthermore , a professional QS should be able to identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks. The construction period is long. Meanwhile , economic recession may occur which would lead to the fluctuation of the price for construction material. Hence the cost promised by the QS may be inaccurate. it is crucial to make sure that the fluctuation of price will not affect the construction project progress. Lastly , QS have to writing a detailed progress reports which will analyse the outcome of the project. By valuing the completed work, QS have to arrange the payments to be done.

The problems that often faced by QS are most of the business owners are cutting the professional fees which lead to encouraging unreasonably low tender bidding. Many QS firms are thus suffering from “cut-throat” competition instead of creation of value for their clients. Besides , professional consultancies are very traditional and have very narrow mindset. Many industry leaders are still focusing on basic skills, which could be replaced by computers in 10 years time.

We cant foresee the future hence a professional QS must have strong financial, analytical, interpretive and teamwork skills which will understanding the implications of health and safety regulations but not just doing their job only.

Making Leap To 2012

BIG

BIG is a group that work on or work in bamboo in order to make the leap to 2012. They trying to do research and construction floatable structures for 2012. 22 possibilities have prediction that will happen more frequent on 2012.


Today is the discussion for it which the M.C. is Noor Liyana and talk given by Mr. Wan. Lecturers than involved in BIG attended this discussion. Part of the dome already builded and assemble around E48. That is the hardwork of RUS 101 students.

Mr. Wan explained to us about the making leap to 2012 and the video of awakening as one was showed. We were encouraged by Mr. Wan with the 3P that is Principle , People and Place. Although having financial problem. But with the 3P , Mr Wan believed that we still able to work on BIG.

Some plans and BIG events was showed by Mr. Wan. For example meeting and conference. There is 1 project where Big Dome were builded at the Youth Jam practice place and Mr. Wan said that RUS 101 students going to build the same things too. Thats challenging izit ??? Haha it seems like our bamboo connector isnt tight enuf and the small part that we assemble wasnt that satisfied because some of it is nt stable. Furthermore some creation for example like LAMPU design was shown too.

Mr. Wan trying to shape our mind by exposing us with different taughts. We cant force people to believe in BIG plan but we can inspire people in believing it..

After explaination and talk by Mr. Wan , the discussion session is held for students and lecturers to ask question.

Question 1
What are the challenges that faced and how to get such large amount of bamboo ?

Nowadays , logging often happened and destroyed quite a large number of bamboo which is able to use for construction.
Bamboo in foreign counteries are easier to harvest and the structure are btr as compared to local bamboo. This is because the bamboo in Malaysia grow like grass where the mature bamboo will located in the middle of the cluster and this make the job of harvesting harder.
Furthermore , now the bamboo being use for the project of BIG are not preservative bamboo hence the structure are not as stronger as the preservative bamboo due to attack by insects.
10% of the green in the world are covered by bamboo hence we believed that these amount of bamboo are sufficient for the construction of BIG plan.

Question 2
Its seems like BIG's plan of designing IBU and PONDOK only to face flood on 2012 but not others... What if earthquake that hit ?? Or maybe tornado attack ??

Its only the beginning of the plan.. Just like our first year studies ... Things wont be too hard for students level .. but things are almost the same and BIG will try to work it out because any possibilities can happen on 2012.

Question 3
How bamboo plays part in medical field ??

Bamboo can cure " gila babi " More research can be done on find the uses of bamboo in medical field too...

Ibu Construction

Firstly , Mr Wan already ordered alot and alot of bamboo which been located at Rumpun Buluh. Our assignment for this time is seriously made us exhausted.. We were divided into few session which in charge of different part on the big dome which is about 30m high , about 2 and a half storey high building.. Imagine that , we climbing up there and fixing the dome.. Hard to imagine.... haha..

Time to saw bambooooo...

After choosing the right bamboo , time to make the connector to connect the bamboo tightly .. Here come out Xmen job ... huh ?? where is our Xman ??? No idea.. Maybe he just too busy helping other group instead of his own group... Haha..

Ok back to our topic.. I have 2 bamboo hence 4 connector is required.. How to make connector :

Its all about domeday.. 2012 .. Will is happen??? Or it just merely a prediction?? Well all of us donno .. what can we do now just prepare to face the future .. with open hearted ...

Support BIG!! Work hard in finding solution!! Teamwork is vital and so do our body strength .. This lesson taught me alot ... Ibu wont be able to build successfully even just one of us simply make the connector and search for the right bamboo.. the whole things will just easy collapse and injuries may happened too.. Every step should be taken seriously and not as a it easily..
